The Restoration

Before me and paul even met one another Paul had bought a 1970 beatle bug from a friends friend. This bug needed quite alot of work, especially since Paul had a certain vision for the car in mind. Paul rebuilt this car from inside to out, he even rebuilt the engine. Paul went to school and got his associates at Universal technical institute (UTI), and it was this training that helps him with this restoration. He put his heart and soul as well as physical strength into this project. He was at one point going to work at 6:30 getting off at 3 working on the bug till 8 and going to school from 8:30 to midnight. From what he told me when he would work on this bug the hours would pass with him not noticing one bit. He told me about one experience that made him madder then he has ever been in his life. He has wanted to start the paint job on the bug and had gone to a paint store and talked to an employee and explained the project he was doing. He asked them specifically if he needed to primer paint before he painted and they told him no he should be fine. Well as some of you may know what a pain it is so sand something down, Paul had already sanded the car down for weeks and weeks well he put this first coat of paint down and the next day a piece was flaking off. Well he went back and they then told him he needed the primer paint. He had to sand it all down once again, he was so mad. Paul finished the bug in July of 2006 three months before we met.He named his bug Gus. He bought our Mazda 3 in August of 2006. Personally the mazda is my favorite but i am very proud of Paul for the work and knowledge he has in building a car!
